December Daily - December 5th Words & Photos

IToday was all about cookies.  We started out with our first baking day of the holiday season.  Lianna and I helped my mom make shortbread cookies  - so yummy.  These cookies always remind us of Grandma Cudmore - her recipe is much loved among her children and grandchildren, and my mom always makes them at Christmas time for her sisters and brothers.

After shortbread came Salted Caramel Pecan Bars, a newer recipe in our Christmas cookie basket that I found a few years ago on Pinterest.  Original recipe can be found in link above.  These are SO YUMMY.  I make them and freeze them.  They are delish right out of the freezer, after warming up a bit, the next day - WHENEVER.  So easy and so yummy.

To finish off our day of cookies, Lianna and I helped Aiden decorate some Christmas cookies after dinner.  My mom found this cute little kit with remade sugar cookies, icing baggies and candies - perfect for a fun Christmas activity that requires no effort at all other than a bit of cleanup after.  Aiden loved it!  Kris brought Sophia over to try to 'join in' as well, however her main focus became trying to spill and/or eat everything on the table, so she was quickly removed from the situation. (haha)

There's nothing like Christmas baking is there? And those extra little hands that help are heaps of fun.
